Samples sent for forensic test

A few pieces of aluminium object which exploded at a scrap shop in Navalpattu, have been sent for technical analysis by the Forensic Laboratory. N. Rangasamy (26) was killed and another youth K. Rajasekar (24) suffered injuries when the object exploded after Rangasamy tried to break it. The Navalpattu police have registered a case. Special teams have been formed to investigate into the incident. Samples of the pieces collected at the spot have been sent for forensic analysis.

K.S. Palanisamy, District Collector, has advised voters who are not possessing the Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to produce any one of the 11 documents for identity for casting their votes. The documents, among other things, included passport, driving licence, identity card issued by public sector undertakings and State government establishments, PAN card, pension book, bank passbook with photograph, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme membership card, and Medical Insurance Smart card issued by the Labour Department.

Two arrested for

selling liquor

Two persons were arrested on a charge of selling liquor at two places in the city. The Srirangam police arrested Prakash at Tiruvanaikaval and seized 10 IMFL bottles from him. The Prohibition Enforcement Wing police arrested Murugaraj near the Airport area. The police action is in the wake of the closure of IMFL shops in view of the elections.
