Sale of cement

About 9,960.50 tonnes of Amma Cement has been sold in Tiruchi district so far and 1,782 tonnes of the stock was available at the outlets that were selling the cement. A maximum of 1,351 tonnes have been sold through the Thiruvanaikovil outlet. Amma cement is being sold at Rs.190 a bag. A buyer will have to produce the approved building plan or a certificate from village administrative officer, revenue inspector, panchayat union supervisor or road inspector concerned.

Amma cement is being sold through the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation at Subramaniapuram, Irungalur, Musiri, Thuraiyur, Thiruvanaikovil, Thuvakudi and Manapparai and through the Rural Development Agency at Andhanallur, Manikandam, Tiruverumbur, Marungapuri, Vaiyampatti, Lalgudi, Manchanallur, Pullampadi, Thottiyam, Thathaiyengarpet and Uppilliyapuram in the district, a release said.

Cotton auction

About 3,100 kg of cotton was traded at the weekly cotton auction at the Thuraiyur Regulated Market on Wednesday. Farmers had brought in 103 bags of cotton, which fetched a maximum of Rs.40.50 a kg.

The average price was Rs.39.50 a kg. The total value of the cotton traded at the auction was Rs.1.19 lakhs. The next auction at the market would be held on May 27, an official release said.

Special camps

Special camps to collect details of voters under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) of the Election Commission would be held in all polling stations across the district on Sunday. The programme seeks to ensure error-free electoral rolls, by removing multiple entries and provide correct details about the voters.

Voters have been requested to submit photo copies of their Aadhaar cards, EPIC card and mobile phone numbers to the authorities at the camp. Applications for inclusion, deletion and correction of names can also be submitted.
