Rs. 95-lakh welfare assistance distributed to differently abled

Welfare assistance to the tune of Rs.95 lakh was given to a total number of 2,293 differently abled persons here on Sunday.

Distributing assistance at the Collectorate, Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, N.R. Sivapathi, said the government had been providing financial assistance to impart various types of training to the differently abled through voluntary institutions.

The government was taking steps to improve the standard of living of the differently abled.

The government was providing Rs. 500 to Rs. 3,000 to differently abled students studying in government and government aided schools and colleges, Mr. Sivapathi said.

Collector Jayashree Muralidharan, Mayor A. Jaya, MLAs M. Paranjothi, R. Manoharan, T.P. Poonatchi and R. Chandrasekar and local body representatives participated, an official release here said.
