Round-the-clock monitoring rooms for monsoon set up

Special control rooms have been set up in government departments and agencies concerned for round-the-clock monitoring of the monsoon situation, said Collector Jayashree Muralidharan.

District officials have also been instructed to take precautionary measures along the banks of rivers and water courses and in low lying areas. The district administration was taking all necessary steps to minimise the impact of heavy rain during the monsoon, she said in a press release.

Members of the public can convey complaints or information relating to rain-related damage to the district administration over the toll-free telephone number 1077.

Rainfall

Meanwhile, Tiruchi and its neighbouring areas received moderate to heavy rain on Monday evening with Golden Rock in the city recording the maximum of 128.60 mm of rainfall during the 24 hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
