‘Restore old pension scheme’

October 28, 2013 12:51 pm | Updated 12:51 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

The Tamil Nadu Government Employees Union (TNGEU) has urged the Central and State governments to withdraw the new pension scheme. The union has urged the governments to restore old pension scheme and stop outsourcing of government works.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, K.Balasubramanian, general secretary, All India State Government Employees Confederation, said that outsourcing would neither benefit government employees nor the public.

Demanding the merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance with basic pay, he wanted the government to fill up the vacant posts in government departments.

He said the salary of State government employees should be revised once in four years akin to employees of public sector undertakings, adding that 20 per cent interim relief should be given to the staff till such time the wage revision was implemented. The TNGEU would organise a conference in Chennai on November 14 to highlight their demands to the government, said Mr.Balasubramanian.
