Residents stage road roko against erratic water supply

September 16, 2014 12:53 pm | Updated 12:53 pm IST - KARUR:

Residents of Pasupathipalayam in Karur staged a road roko on Tiruchi-Karur road on Monday demanding regular water supply in their locality.

The protestors, who were peeved at the erratic water supply, took to the streets alleging that their repeated pleas for regular drinking water supply failed to evoke response. Men, women and children carrying empty plastic pots sat on the road near the Pasupathipalayam police station.

They claimed that water was not supplied for more than 3 weeks to Arunachala Nagar, Mengattu street, South Street, Sankar Nagar and other places.

However, the protestors withdrew the protest after an assurance by the officials that steps would be taken immediately to supply the Cauvery water. Traffic was disrupted in the area for about 30 minutes following the protest.
