Residents of Komangalam village in Musiri taluk in the district have resolved to have individual toilets at all households. A decision to this effect was taken unanimously at the grama sabha meeting held on the occasion of Republic Day on Saturday. Residents attending the grama sabha also reached a consensus on avoiding the use of non bio-degradable plastics. The meeting, attended by T.Thiyagarajan, and chaired by S.K.Thangavel, panchayat president, decided to remove the parthenium weeds in the village and create farm ponds to improve the ground water table. Grama sabha meeting was held in all the 404 village panchayats in the district. Panchayat accounts and ration shop records were subjected to social audit at the meeting. The meeting also discussed the development works that are to be implemented in the respective panchayats.
