Rally in Tiruchi to develop reading habits

A library awareness rally was organised in the city as part of the library week celebrations on Wednesday.

“The objective of the rally is to educate the public about the benefits of developing the reading habit,” said P. Sivakumar, district library officer. The rally that was flagged of by Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, at central bus stand, passed through Puthur junction and Chatram bus stand before ending at the district central library at Singarathope.

V. Govindasamy, president, library readers’ forum, spoke about the importance of visiting libraries.

Handbills explaining the importance of libraries and the knowledge gained by reading books and periodicals were distributed among the people.

A mobile library moved with the rally. Librarians from around the district participated.
