A team of health officials on Tuesday nabbed a quack in Mannachanallur in the district.

According to Collector K. Rajamani, following a complaint received by him and the Chief Minister’s Special Cell, a team led by Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services Samsath Begum, carried out surprised inspection at a clinic run by G. Sankar in Mannachanallur.

Shankar is said to have treated patients with symptoms of dengue.

Inquiry showed that he did not possess the necessary qualification to treat patients.

The team also found that his wife Malarkodi and Dhanaseeli assisted him. While Sankar was arrested, enquiry was on with the other two persons.

Mr. Rajamani, in a press release, warned that stern action, including detention under the Goondas Act, would be taken against quacks.

Public can provide information to the district administration or the Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services (mobile: 9842482209) on persons providing medical treatment without proper qualification and training, the Collector added.
