Pudukottai DC: Vinayaka idols should not exceed 5-foot height

Idols of Lord Vinayaka meant for procession for immersion in water bodies, should not exceed five feet in height, said C.Manoharan, District Collector.

Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the Vinayakar Chathurthi which falls on September 9, held here on Friday, Mr.Manoharan said that the idols should be made of clay and the idols meant for community worship should be erected in public places after due permission.

He said that municipal, town panchayat, and panchayat union authorities should advise festival organisers to clear the garbage at the celebration sites.

He advised the municipal commissioners and executive officers of town panchayats to convene a meeting of the organisers well ahead of the festival.

E.S.Uma, Superintendent of Police, and S.Marimuthu, District Revenue Officer, were present.
