The Tiruchi Corporation has rehabilitated P.T. Rajan park in Woraiyur at a cost of Rs.22 lakh.

The park, which was named after a leader of Justice Party, is one of the popular parks of the Corporation. Since most of the playing materials used by the children were found to be damaged, the Corporation had taken up rehabilitation work a few months ago. The cost of the project was met from general fund of the corporation. It has replaced all damaged swings with new ones. Similarly, four slides were replaced.

A senior officer of the corporation said that a walking track had been laid for the benefit of morning and evening walkers. In addition, a reading room at the middle of the park had been refurbished.

About 20 playing equipments were established. The fountain, which was found damaged, had been cleaned and restored. Sanitation facility had also been improved.

Mayor A. Jaya, Commissioner N.S. Prema, City Engineer, S. Nagesh and Assistant Executive Engineer, Kannan, visited the park and checked the basic facilities.

Considering the possibility of attracting a good crowd, Ms. Jaya urged officials to ensure systematic functioning of all equipments.
