Prisoners taking park in a painting competition held at sub jail in Karur

Monday turned out to be an occasion for the inmates of sub-jail here to test their skill in painting.

When they were given an opportunity to take part in the painting contest as part of the 47 National Library Week, organised by the Karur District Central Library Readers’ Circle, almost all of them enthusiastically came forward to take part in it.

S. Ramasubramanian of Bharani Educational Group, who inaugurated the competition, said 24 out of 27 prisoners took part in it.

The results would be announced on Tuesday.

P. Palanivel, Superintendent, sub-jail; S.S. Sivakumar, Librarian, District Central Library, and P. Durairaj, retired drawing teacher, took part.
