Preparations for Big Temple Millennium celebrations kick off

“Thanjai Sangamam”-cultural programmes in which 1000 folk artists are to participate in connection with the Millennium celebrations of the Big Temple, will be organised at five places in Thanjavur town.

These programmes will be held every evening on September 22, 23 and 24 at Sivaganga Park, Mani Mandapam, Tholkappiar Sadukkam, Karanthai Thamizh Sangam and old housing unit.

P. A. Mani, Commissioner of Art and Culture, inspected these places and the Big Temple on Tuesday and discussed with officials about the preparations for the programmes. Besides Thanjai sangamam events, dance and other programmes will be held inside the temple on September 25 and 26. Mr. Mani held discussions with M.S.Shanmugham, Collector; R.Muthu and R. Gunasekaran, Assistant directors, Art and culture and Ramamurthy, Tourist officer regarding the programmes, said a release issued here on Wednesday.
