A police outpost has been created at Manjathidal on the city’s outskirts with a view to addressing issues relating to law and order besides crime.

Abutting the busy Tiruchi – Thanjavur National Highway, the police outpost falls under the jurisdiction of Tiruverambur sub division. Police sources said a team of police personnel have been deployed at the outpost which would function round-the-clock.

Superintendent of Police, T. Senthil Kumar inaugurated the police outpost on Thursday evening. The outpost would also keep a tab on movement of anti-social elements and take necessary steps to prevent them from committing offences. It has been established to deal with the issues brought to the notice by residents of Kattur and Manjathidal areas, said police sources.

A monitor has been installed inside the police outpost to enable police personnel view the movements taking place along the Thanjavur national highway. The monitor is connected to the surveillance cameras deployed at certain spots along the highway.
