Days after the release of its draft election manifesto, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Sunday asked people to usher in an alternative government to liberate the State from the clutches of the two Dravidian parties.

At the sixth regional conference held in Tiruchi, Anbumani Ramadoss, the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate, said the PMK was the only hope for the people to provide a clean and efficient government. Though the two Dravidian parties had ruled the State for about 50 years alternatively, the State was lagging in all aspects of development, including infrastructure, education, health care and housing.

Claiming that the draft election manifesto had received overwhelming support from the people, Mr. Anbumani said he would tour the State to seek the opinion of the people so as to incorporate them in the final election manifesto that would be released in January, 2016. The policies and programmes of AIADMK government had made people poorer. They had been reeling under severe debt due to steep rise in cost of education and health. According to a study, each family had been forced to spend Rs.1 lakh to Rs. 1.80 lakh per year on education and health care.

Ramadoss, PMK founder, said the cadre should take the draft election manifesto to each and every corner of the State to seek the opinion of people.
