A Plus Two student allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his house at Pachur near here on Friday.

P. Kaleeswaran (18) was studying in a Government Higher Secondary School in Pachur near Manachanallur.

He allegedly took the extreme step by fearing that he might fail in the Plus Two examinations.

He was found hanging soon after returning home from the school, where he wrote the final examination of Plus Two on Friday.

Meena, mother of Kaleeswaran, said she had found him depressed since he returned from the school.

He told her that he had not written the examinations well. Following this, she had consoled him and asked him not to worry about the results of the examinations. In spite of this, he chose to end his life.

Kaleeswaran’s body has been kept at the Mahatma Gandhi Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Vathalai police have filed a case.

Sneha’s suicide prevention helpline can be contacted at 044-24640050 and the State’s helpline is 104.
