Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, special camps were organised on the instruction of the Election Commission to receive applications from public for inclusion of their names in the voters’ list in the district on Sunday.
About 31,501 new applications were received at the camps across the district.
A large number of residents turned up at the camps held at 2,309 polling stations in the district.
Form VIThe district administration had deputed polling officials and staff for the day-long exercise were Form VI was provided for including names in the voters’ list.
Collector Jayashree Muralidharan inspected a few polling stations to ensure that enough forms were available and electoral and supplementary rolls were properly displayed, an official release issued here said.
The District Revenue Officer, Revenue Divisional Officers, Tahsildars, and Deputy Tahsildars inspected the camps across the district.
