Alumni, students and staff members of National Institute of Technology (NIT) here came together on Tuesday to pay rich tributes to the first Principal of Regional Engineering College (which later became NIT), Prof. P. S. Manisundaram, who passed away in Chennai on Saturday.
Members of Regional Engineering College Alumni Association (RECAL), led by A. V. Karthikeyan of the first batch, spoke about the significant role played by Manisundaram as mentor and guide, which resulted in many of them becoming engineering entrepreneurs. They described him as a visionary who shaped the future of the institution and students.
The present batch of students spoke on how they benefited from the frequent visits of the former Principal to the institution.
The Director, S. Sundarrajan, recalled his association with Manisundaram and how he got involved in the silver jubilee celebration of NIT.
All the participants paid floral tributes to the portrait of the former Principal at the conclusion of the meeting.
