Marginal rise in pass percentage in Tiruchi district

The district saw a marginal rise in overall pass percentage in the SSLC examinations the result of which was announced on Friday.

At the State-level, Tiruchi was placed at the ninth spot with girls performing better than boys. A total number of 225 schools achieved cent per cent result of which 72 were government schools.

The overall pass percentage this time was 96.98 – a marginal rise over the previous year when it was 95.92 %. Officials said a total number of 37703 students, including 18,729 girls, appeared for the examination held in March.

As many as 36,565 students, including 18,439 girls, successfully cleared the examination. Girls out shined boys with their pass percentage being 98.45 as compared to 95.53% in the case of boys. The overall pass percentage in the 178 government schools in the district alone was 96.39.

With respect to subject-wise figures, the overall pass percentage in Science was 99.74; 99.32% in Social Science; 98.15% in Mathematics; 98.82% in English and 98.52% in language.

 

Six out of the seven Corporation High Schools in the city have achieved cent per cent results. Ayyanaar Corporation High School in Srirangam, Corporation High School, Kodanyampettai, Corporation High School, Senthaneerpuram, Corporation High School, Mel Kalkandarkottai, Corporation High School, Kamaraj Nagar and Corporation High School, Rani Annadurai Street, K. K. Nagar, recorded cent percent pass. Dr.Mathuram Higher Secondary School registered 94% pass with two of the 30 students failing in Tamil.

Once again girls outshone boys in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts in the SSLC examinations the results of which were declared on Friday.

In Thanjavur revenue district – comprising Thanjavur, Pattukkottai and Kumbakonam education districts – out of the 16,453 boys who appeared for the exams only 15,349 secured a pass while out of the 17,391 girls who took the exams 16,875 came out successful. While the overall district pass percentage stood at 95.21, the pass percentage of girls was 97.03 and that of the boys was 93.29.

Pattukkottai education district secured a pass percentage of 96.81, followed by Thanjavur at 95.65 while Kumbakonam trailed with 93.45 %.

A total of 151 schools from Thanjavur district, including 67 government schools, secured cent percent pass.

 

This year's showing by Thanjavur district in terms of percentage that stood at 95.21 was a tad lower than last year's that was 95.39%.

Chief Education Officer Subashini released the results and the details at the Kalyanasundaram Higher Secondary School in the presence of department officials.

In Tiruvarur district, 15,774 out of the total 17,151 students who took the SSLC exams secured pass marks to ensure that the district tallied 91.97%. That was 2.64% up over that of last year's showing. A total of 57 schools, including 19 government schools secured cent percent pass in the exams as the district moved one spot up in the State list with regards to overall pass percentage when compared to its performance the previous year.

In Nagapattinam district, out of the 22,299 students from 272 schools who took the SSLC exams 20,382 cleared the exams to give an aggregate pass percentage of 91.40, up by 1.97% over that of last year's showing.

A total of 9,641 out of 10,833 boys and 10,741 out of the total 11,466 girls secured a pass in the SSLC exams. Out of the 272 schools, 78, including 27 government schools, secured cent percent pass.

Ariyalur district witnessed a marginal rise in the overall pass percentage in the SSLC examinations.

Among the 61 schools in Ariyalur district that achieved cent percent results this time, 26 of them were government schools. Out of the 11,241 students who appeared for the SSLC examination in Ariyalur district, as many as 10,491 of them successfully cleared.

The overall pass percentage this time was 93.33 – a marginal increase as compared to 2016 when it was 92.52 %. Girls out shined boys with an overall pass percentage of 95.54 as compared to 90.92 % in the case of boys. A total number of 227 students scored centum in Mathematics, Science and Social Science subjects, according to official sources.

Perambalur district which was in the 11th place at the State-level last year slid down to 17th place this time. The overall pass percentage in Perambalur district this year was 94.98 – which was less compared to 2016 when it was 96.52 %.

Sixty two schools including 20 government schools achieved cent percent result out of the total number of 136 schools in the district.

Pudukottai district witnessed an increase in overall pass percentage with the figure being 96.16. This was slightly higher than 2016 when it was 94.46 %. As many as 24,541 students including 12,460 girls wrote the exam of which 23,599 students emerged successful.

The overall pass percentage attained this year in Karur district was 95.20 which was less than 2016 when it was 96.67 %. Ninety schools achieved cent percent results of which 31 were government schools.
