A 35-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her husband who dumped the body in a well at Vadakipatti near Puthanatham on Thursday night.
The Puthanatham police have arrested C. Krishnan (40) on the charge of killing his wife K. Ponnazhagu.
The couple have two daughters aged 13 and 9 years.
Police said Ponnazhagu was married to Krishnan 15 years ago and the couple settled at Palani in Dindigul district where he was engaged in milk vending business. According to the police, the woman had an illegal affair with a 27-year-old man.
Upon coming to know about the affair, Krishnan reportedly asked his wife to come to Vadakipatti under the pretext of solving a domestic tiff between his sister and her husband.
Police said Krishnan attacked his wife with a boulder killing her near a stone quarry. Later, he dumped the body into a well.
On receipt of information, a police team retrieved the body from the well and arrested Krishnan.
The Puthanatham police have registered a case.
