A 30-year-old man has submitted a petition to the Superintendent of Police seeking action on a person who cheated him of Rs. 2 lakh on the promise of getting him a job at the Collector’s office.

M. Chandrasekar, a resident of Kunnathur near Banavaram, was engaged in agriculture work in Kalavai when he met Manikandan, who was working in a college.

Chandrasekar alleged that Manikandan had promised him of getting a job as a driver in the Collector’s office.

“He told me that I can get a job if I paid Rs. 2 lakh first, and then another Rs. 1 lakh on getting the job. I pledged my jewels and borrowed money and paid Rs. two lakh to him on November 10, 2015,” he said.

Fake orders

In February this year, Chandrasekar received a courier that carried the appointment order.

“It had a seal of the Collector’s office and also a signature. But when I went to the Collectorate and showed the order, I was told it was a fake one. I also met two others with similar fake orders,” he said.

He said Manikandan had switched off his mobile after this incident. “I met him four months ago and demanded money.

He promised to return but has not done so it till date.” Following this, he submitted a petition to the SP.
