Acting on a tipoff , the City police today nabbed a three-member gang involved in the abduction of a car broker here on Monday.
A kidnap case has been booked against the accused – Raj alias Edward Lawrence Raj (30), Bablu alias J.Prabhu (30) and S.Mahendran (29) – by the Sessions Court police.
A police press release here said there was a dispute between Edward Lawrence Raj and Nirmal Ghosh over monetary dealings.
Edward Raj and the other two abducted Nirmal Ghosh from the combined court complex in a car in the afternoon. Information was immediately conveyed to the police control room following which an alert was sounded to all check posts, patrol vehicles, and field-level police personnel.
Police intercepted the car in which Nirmal Ghosh was kidnapped on Lawsons road within 10 minutes of receipt of information, the release said.
Police arrested the abductors and seized the car. The culprits had planned to murder Nirmal Ghosh, the release added.
The Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav appreciated the police for their swift action.
