A combing operation was jointly conducted at Tiruchi railway junction by city police, Government Railway Police, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on Tuesday in the wake of the twin blasts in Hyderabad.
During the over hour-long anti-sabotage checks, the police and RPF personnel armed with bomb detection equipment and other paraphernalia, checked platforms 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, two and four-wheeler parking areas, retiring rooms, parcel office, computerised passenger reservation centre, and railway refreshment stalls, looking out for any suspicious objects.
Around 50 personnel were involved in the operation that was headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Cantonment range, Ganesan, and RPF, Assistant Security Commissioner, Tiruchi, A.Kalaiarasan. Two empty rakes of passenger coaches halted at the station were also checked.
No suspicious objects or articles were found during the sudden checks, said RPF officers adding that the operation was conducted as a precautionary measure and to enhance coordination between security agencies.
