The government had already issued an order to repair the portion of the Tiruchi-Karur National Highway 67 falling between Kudamuritti River in the city and Jeeyapuram.

The Tiruchi-Karur National Highway 67 between Kudamuritti River in the city and Jeeyapuram will soon be repaired, said Collector Jayashree Muralidharan while addressing the district planning committee meeting here on Monday. The road stretch has been badly damaged and left unattended as the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had taken up the development of the highway beyond Jeeyapuram.

The government had already issued an order to repair the road stretch and work would be taken up soon after fund allotment, said Ms. Muralidharan while responding to a complaint in this regard from Thangavel, a member of the committee.

The Collector also instructed the Tangedco officials to replace all damaged and weak electricity poles and list out damaged poles and prioritise repair works. She also instructed officials of the TWAD Board to take steps to ensure additional drinking water supply in Thuraiyur taluk and the Manapparai municipality.

The Forest Department was requested to supply the promised 52,000 saplings to be planted in government built houses in the district. An officer of the District Rural Development Agency informed the members that 467 farm ponds of the sanctioned 842 farm ponds have been created under MNREGS.

Surveys have been completed in Marungapuri, Mannachannallur and Thottiyam panchayat unions where the Tamil Nadu Livelihood Mission is being implemented for sanction of credit to women’s federations.
