The City Police has proposed to hold a meeting with residents, those from the business community, educational institutions and others regarding the importance of installation of surveillance cameras at their respective places and its linkage with the modern police control room here.

The District Collector, Commissioner of Police, Corporation Commissioner and officials from police, revenue and civic body will take part in the meeting that has been planned on June 26 at Hotel Sangam in the city.

The meeting is being organised at a time when the City Police has embarked on the task of linking 300 surveillance cameras installed at busy thoroughfares and traffic junctions with the modern police control room for round-the-clock monitoring.

LED display system

The task of installing LED display system inside the modern control room is already under way.

A police press release said that during the proposed meeting with the general public, traders and managements of institutions, the City Police would drive home the message of installing cameras and positioning them in such way that it faced the road and linking the cameras with the modern police control room.

The release further said the plan of the city police was to cover all areas including residential localities through linkage of surveillance cameras with the modern police control for complete monitoring of activities taking place within the city limits.

The City Police has also appealed to residents and other institutions to install Digital 4MP-POE IP Bullet Camera -IR (Night Vision) camera along with other accessories.

The idea of linking the cameras with the modern control room was to curb offences, regulate vehicular movement and maintain order, the release from the police added.
