A large number of devotees offered worship to Lord Jambukeswarar and Sri Akilandeswari on the occasion of the Panguni car festival on Monday.

The processional idols were taken from the sanctum sanctorum to the temple cars in the morning where religious rituals were performed.

At about 8.30 a.m., devotees pulled the temple car with Lord Siva, followed by the second car with the idol of Sri Akilandeswari.

Special security arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the festival.

The annual festival commenced on March 26.
