Hotels and eateries are rolling out the red carpet for people to usher in 2015 in style. For most of the December 31 dinnertime events, the hospitality sector has added the zing of live entertainment and novelty features like gaming arcades and fireworks besides multi-cuisine spreads.

On an average, entry tickets to the New Year parties are priced between Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3000 for adults (attending as couples or singles) with roughly 50 per cent discount for children (excluding taxes). Among the events being lined up is Sangam Hotel’s ‘Rejoice – 2015,’ which will have Star Vijay Super Singer-fame Santhosh Balaji providing live entertainment, along with disc jockey Maddy to spin dance records, and a choreography show by the Coimbatore-based Softy event management company, emceed by Priya.

“We are planning live stations for our multi-cuisine buffet, which starts from 7 p.m.,” the hotel’s Food and Beverages Manager Palanisamy told ‘The Hindu.’ “Around 10-20 dishes are being offered exclusively for the New Year’s party.”

At the Breeze Residency, ‘Tamasha 2015 New Year’s Eve’ has local band The Revivals, Yo-Yo and the Super Troupers to entertain guests from 8 p.m. The banquet menu offers seafood, lamb, turkey and chicken dishes.

The hotel is offering special double room booking rates for couples from December 31, 2014 to January 1, 2015, details of which are available on the hotel’s website.

‘Glory 2015’ at the Grand Gardenia promises unlimited dining for guests, from 8 p.m. to the accompaniment of magic shows and music.

The roof garden Thendral restaurant of Ramyas Hotel is the place to find a spread of 24 varieties of dishes on the eve of New Year. Live instrumental performances, a stage show and individual magic shows at each table are also being promised.

Femina Hotel’s New Year party will be an alcohol-free event, keeping in mind its family clientele, said Mohamed Abubacker, director. In addition to a lavish menu featuring at least 20 dishes (separate arrangements have been made for vegetarians) and entertainment like mimicry, karaoke and mime, “this year one lucky couple will get a chance to go on a trip to Colombo, Sri Lanka,” he added. Fine dining restaurant DiMoRa has lined up a special lunch buffet featuring barbecued dishes on January 1 as part of its festive week menu which goes on until January 4. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available.

At the Altitude Resto Lounge, there is an unlimited continental cuisine barbecue being planned for January 1. A ‘first-ever’ on-the-table grilling experience is being offered to customers.

Most hotels advise people to make their reservations in advance.
