SP S. Rajeswari paying homage to the fireman who drowned in the Cauvery, on Monday.

Homage was paid on Monday to fireman A.Gunendran who drowned in the Cauvery river at Srirangam here on Sunday while trying to rescue a cow that got trapped in the watercourse.

Wreaths were placed on the body of Gunendran by Collector Jayashree Muralidharan, Superintendent of Police S.Rajeswari, Deputy Director of Fire Services, Tiruchi region, K.Parthiban, Divisional Fire Officer, Tiruchi Syed Mohamed Sha and Station Fire Officer, Srirangam Melky Raj here.

A wreath was placed on behalf of the Additional Director General of Police/ Director of Fire and Rescue Services R.C.Kudawla.

Police personnel gave a guard of honour on the occasion as a mark of respect and to pay their homage to the fireman who lost his life at the call of duty.

Fire fighters from Tiruchi Division also paid homage.
