A spell-bee contest organised under the auspices of English Wizard Foundation evoked an overwhelming response from the students of 17 schools in and around the city.

In all, 770 students participated in the contest.

Divided into six categories, the students exhibited their skill in the test that included dictation too.

Students’ skill in various topics such as use of preposition, spelling correction, selection of apt words and labelling the picture were ascertained.

In all, 60 students won in the contest. The objective of the test is to improve the students’ knowledge in vocabulary and develop their language skill, according to Yasmin Nazeer, Coordinator of the Foundation.

School level and inter-school level contests were held earlier and winners were selected for the state-level competition, she added.
