Four killed in car accident

Four persons on board a car were killed after a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus dashed against the vehicle on the Tiruchi – Chennai national highway at Samayapuram in the early hours on Friday morning.

The victims were identified as S. Prabhu (35), from Singaperumalkoil near Chengalpattu, his wife Bhakiyalakshmi (30), their son P. Navinkumar (7) and the car driver N. Balamurugan (20).

The occupants of the car were proceeding to Madurai from Chengalpattu when the Chennai-bound SETC bus from Thiruvananthapuram dashed against the vehicle killing three of them on the spot. Navinkumar succumbed to injuries at the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Headquarters Hospital in the city, the police said. The bus driver S. Sankar (35) cited as the accused was arrested. The Samayapuram police has registered a case.
