Fire service day observed at BHEL

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, is undertaking various steps to modernise its fire fighting systems, said its Executive Director A.V.Krishnan here on Thursday. The move will benefit the entire district as BHEL was a member of mutual aid scheme comprising the fire services of various other organisations, he said speaking at the National Fire Service Day observed at the factory. Fire safety is not just the responsibility of Fire Service personnel alone, but it’s everybody’s responsibility, he observed. Mr.Krishnan presented medals to the Security and Fire Service staff who had put in over 30 years of service. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of competitions held in connection with Fire Service Day. T.Sekar, Chief Security Officer, BHEL Tiruchirappalli, presented the annual report.

A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to those who lost their lives during the recent earthquake in Nepal and India.
