Kadiramangalam villagers observe fast

They urge ONGC to stop its operations

A section of residents of Kadiramangalam village observed fast on Monday demanding the ONGC to stop its operations in the village. They also demanded the withdrawal of the police personnel posted in the village.

Police sources said the villagers including women observed fast also demanding the release of the 10 persons arrested in connection with staging a protest recently.

The sources said skeletal strength of police personnel continued to be deployed at the village which had been witnessing a rash of protests by the locals vehemently opposing ONGC operations in their area.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Desiya Munnani president Pazha Nedumaran on Monday met the 10 persons lodged in the Tiruchi Central Prison after being arrested for staging protest at Kadiramangalam. Among those arrested include Anti Methane project coordinator Prof. Jayaraman.
