Students’ Exnora of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College organised an awareness programme on “smokeless” Bhogi festival on Tuesday.

R. Sakthi, Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics, M. Jayanthi, Principal, spoke on the need for awareness for celebrating the festival free from smoke and air pollution and effective solid waste management.

T. Radhamani, head of Department of Botany, said that respiratory problem was the main health hazard caused by the smoke.

A human chain programme was organised by volunteers of the Exnora unit of the college. Carrying placards, they sensitised the masses to the need for avoiding smoke.
