Members of Tamil Nadu Highways Department All Associations Federation, Tiruchi district, staged a dharna here on Monday in support of their demands.
The day-long dharna was organised near Khadi Kraft. The members urged the State government to drop the move to constitute Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority to maintain state highways.
They also urged the government to drop the privatisation of road maintenance work to the extent of 400 km in Pollachi division and its proposed move to further hand over maintenance of 10,000 km to private parties.
