“Cultural programmes encourage artistes”

The monthly cultural programmes being organised by the Tiruchi Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the Infosys Foundation have been encouraging young and upcoming artistes, said speakers at the inaugural of a dance drama here on Saturday.

The dance drama, titled ‘Kandan Karunai,’ forms third in the series of the Bhavan Academy for Development of Young Talents with the support of the Foundation.

J.T. Chari, Project Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, said the programme has been not only encouraging the young artistes but also provided an opportunity to exhibit their talents.

Revathy Muthusamy, Director of Srirangam Bharatha Natyalaya, who directed the dance drama, said about 20 young artistes participated in the dance drama which was divided into important episodes such as Deivanai Kalyanam, Valli Kalyanam, Sura Samharam etc.

Lakshmanan, an industrialist, who gave away certificates to the artistes, appreciated the efforts taken by the Bhavan and Foundation.
