The new overbridge constructed across the railway level crossing at Crawford here was inaugurated by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa through videoconferencing in Chennai on Monday. The bridge measuring 696.19 metres has been built at a cost of Rs. 39.13 crore with funds provided by the State government and the Railways. The opening of the bridge would ease congestion and help residents of Edamalaipattipudur, Panchappur, Manikandam, and Viralimalai enter the city, a release said.
