With employment prospects being generated by the private and public sector undertakings acquiring a newer dimension in the present-day industrial scenario, students should grab every opportunity by developing their skills in tune with the expectations of employers, said A.V. Krishnan, Executive Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Tiruchi.
Delivering a lecture on ‘Job opportunities in public sector' at a day-long workshop for the MBA and Engineering course students of the K.S.R. College of Engineering, Tiruchengode, organised by Tiruchi Academy for Competitive Exams (TRACE) in the city on Friday, Mr. Krishnan said that with the advent of globalisation, efficiency and competence have become the watchword, eliminating all disparity or differences between the private and public sector industries.
Young entrepreneurs and engineers had a greater role to play in facing the future challenges of the country.
To drive home the point that the BHEL maintained quality in its production, Mr. Krishnan explained the principles adopted in the recruitment process, with a focus on team spirit and communication skills.
He said that power generation was a key sector for which the Central Government adopted priority for doubling the generation capacity by the end of 2020 AD.
Replying to a plea by K. Moorthy, Director, Management Studies of K.S.R. College off Engineering, Mr. Krishnan assured that the BHEL would explore the possibility of offering some project programmes for the benefit of MCA students.
J.V. Gungune, Executive Director, Dalmia Cements (Bharath) Limited, in his lecture on ‘Job opportunities in private sector,' explained the avenues being provided by his company for promoting youth power.
Sajjan Chavan Singh, Assistant Collector (Training) and B. Suresh Kumar, Deputy Director of Employment, Tiruchi region, were among those who spoke.
