Devotees thronging the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam have been provided with a facility to keep their footwear and personal belongings in safe custody.
The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has established a cloak room-cum-footwear stand at a cost of Rs.22 lakh adjoining the Renga Renga gopuram.
The new facility has been created by using temple fund.
A nominal fee of Rs.5 would be charged for keeping the personal belongings, said the temple authorities.
Tokens would be issued to the devotees while keeping their belongings. The new facility would function throughout the day to the temple timings.
The facility was inaugurated through video conference from Chennai by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday afternoon.
