Members of Tamizhaga Makkal Jananayaga Katchi were arrested after they attempted to stage a rail roko agitation here on Monday demanding amendment to the Constitution that would provide reservation to Christians and Muslims.

Led by party president K.M. Sheriff, the agitators assembled near the Periyar statue from where they planned to take out a march to Tiruchi railway junction for the agitation. However, they were arrested by the police before they could proceed with their plan. Those arrested were later released.
