Army recruitment camp in Cuddalore from April 13

The seven-day recruitment camp for selecting candidates for the five categories of services in the Indian Army will begin here on April 13.

A statement released from the Collectorate stated that at the recruitment camp, candidates from the districts of Cuddalore, Vellore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur and Chennai, and the Union Territory of Puducherry could participate. The selection would be made for the following posts: Soldier nursing assistant, Soldier technician, Soldier general duty, Soldier tradesman and Soldier clerk/Storekeeper (technical).

The eligibility criteria for the Soldier nursing assistant and Soldier technician posts are: must have obtained an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in Plus Two and 40 per cent in individual subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics.

As on April 13, they should have completed 17.5 years and must be within 23 years with a minimum height of 165 cm, 50 kg in weight and chest measurement of 77 to 82 cm.

The candidates for the Soldier general duty should have obtained an aggregate of 45 per cent in SSLC and 35 per cent in each subject. They should have completed 17.5 years and must be within 21 years as on April 14/15 (the recruitment would be for both days) with a minimum height of 166 cm, 50 kg in weight and chest measurement of 77 to 82 cm.

For the Soldier tradesman post the candidates should have passed eighth standard (for cooks and servers and food handlers) and SSLC/ITI for other trades. They should have completed 17.5 years and must be within 23 years as on April 16 with a minimum height of 166 cm, 48 kg in weight and chest measurement of 76 to 81 cm.

For the Soldier clerk/Soldier store keeper (technical) the candidates should have obtained an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in Plus Two and 40 per cent in each subject. The aspirants should have studied English and mathematics either in SSLC or in Plus Two. If they are graduates a pass in Plus Two is enough. But candidates with vocational qualifications would not be entertained.

The candidates should have completed 17.5 years and must be within 23 years as on April 17 with a minimum height of 162 cm, 50 kg in weight and chest measurement of 77 to 82 cm.

For the candidates who qualify in the physical tests for the Soldier tradesman aptitude test will be conducted on April 18. For other candidates who successfully clear the physical tests free coaching for the written tests would be given by the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association at Vellore.
