Armed Police overall champions in Tiruchirapalli

It secured 264 points, Chennai City Police got 259 points and the meet featured karate, judo, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, and gymnastics events.

Armed Police, Chennai, emerged overall champions in the 54 Tamil Nadu State Police Sports Meet – 2014 held here.

The Chennai City Police and Central Zone teams finished second and third respectively in the two-day meet that concluded on Friday.

Men and women police personnel representing the central, west, south, and north zones besides those from the Armed Police, Chennai, and Chennai City Police took part in the competitions.

The meet featured karate, judo, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, and gymnastics events.

The Armed Police team came on top with 264 points followed by Chennai City Police and Central Zone teams which scored 259 and 243 points respectively.

M. Ramasubramani, Inspector-General of Police, Central Zone, gave away prizes to the winners and the shield to the overall champion.

N.K. Senthamarai Kannan, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tiruchi Range; Sanjay Kumar, DIG, Thanjavur Range; S. Rajeswari, Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi; E.S. Uma, Superintendent of Police, Pudukottai; and Abhinav Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), participated in the valedictory function.
