“Apply for assistance before August 31”

Applications to get monthly unemployment assistance are being issued at the District Employment Office here. Unemployed candidates with registrations with the employment office for over five years as on June 30 are eligible. SSLC failed, SSLC passed and Plus Two passed candidates and graduates are eligible to apply. Differently abled persons with employment registrations of more than a year as on June 30 are eligible. The applications can be obtained from the Employment Office

in the forenoon sessions.

Filled-in applications can be submitted up to August 31. Candidates who are availing the assistance should submit self-declarations for the

year 2016-17 at the Employment Office,

a release said.

Similarly, application forms for the monthly unemployment assistance to eligible persons are being issued at the District Employment Exchange in Perambalur. According to a release, eligible candidates should have registered with the employment exchange on or before June 30, 2011 and renewed their registration. In case of SC/ST candidates, the maximum age to apply is 45 and 40 for others. They should not be self-employed. Filled-in applications should be submitted before August 31. For collecting the forms, they should produce their educational certificates, transfer certificate and employment registration card.

Society to be formed

A society for prevention of cruelty to animals would be started in the district soon, Collector K.Nandakumar has said. It would be involved in protection of animals and initiate action against those causing cruelty to animals. Collector and Superintendent of Police would be part of the society. It would have elected office-bearers including president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Those interested to become members of the society can submit applications with the office of the Joint Director of Animal Husbandry within 15 days, Mr.Nandakumar said.

Free medical camp

A free medical camp would be held at the JIPMER Outreach Centre here from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 9 when specialist doctors in endocrinology and diabetes would screen patients, Collector P.Parthiban said.
