The collectorate on Monday wore a look quite different from its usual self on a weekly grievances day. Though the official machinery had turned out in full strength for the weekly meet, the same was not the case with the petitioners. .

Not only the grievances day meeting hall, where the officials receive petitions on Mondays, but the entire collectorate was deserted, thanks to the festive mood among people. The usual slogan-shouting groups of agitated petitioners were conspicuous by their absence. Even police personnel were not to be seen at the entrance to the office. The volunteers of the Federation of Service Organisations, who assist people in writing the petitions to be presented to the officials, were seen relaxing .

Normally, weekly grievances day meetings attract hundreds of people from every corner of the district. With just a day to go for Pongal, today’s working day missed the attention of many.

An official press release issued here today said that 92 petitions were received by the officials’ team led by K.Tharpagaraj, District Revenue Officer.
