50 pushcarts, compactor bins given to sanitary workers

Mayor A.Jaya on Friday handed over 50 pushcarts and an equal number of compactor bins to sanitary workers in K.Abishekapuram zone of the Tiruchi Corporation.

The Corporation had purchased 250 compactor bins and 350 pushcarts at a cost of about Rs.1.54 crore sanctioned under the Integrated Urban Development Scheme. The bins and pushcarts allotted for K.Abishekapuram zone were handed over to the workers by Ms.Jaya in the presence of V.P.Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner, S.Raja Mohamed, city engineer, R.Gnanasekar, chairman, K.Abishepuram zone, and other officials.

Ms.Jaya said the new equipment would help improve sanitation and strengthen the garbage collection system as they could be used in narrow lanes and by-lanes.

Later, Ms.Jaya and other officials inspected the progress of development works in wards 28 and 29 in Ariyamangalam zone and ward 6 in Srirangam Zone.

She instructed the officials to complete the works within the stipulated time.
