4.24 lakh families to receive free rice

Over 4.24 lakh family card holders would be entitled to the free rice promised by the Chief Minister in her election manifesto.

A coordination meeting in this regard was conducted here under Collector C.Munianathan at the Collectorate on Thursday. Under the Scheme, free rice shall be distributed to 4,24,346 lakh families from June 1. All fair price shops are instructed to place display boards about the scheme to spread awareness among people. Block-level officials will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the quality of rice distributed through PDS. Any grievances may be voiced to the State Consumer Assistance Office over 044-28592828.

V.Rajendran, District Revenue Officer, Viswanathan, Senior Regional Manager, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, were present.
