Concentration was the watchword for the participants at the district-level carrom tournament that concluded here on Friday. The challenge was in remaining focused and finding the target consistently.
The two-day tourney, which was organised by the Tiruchi-unit of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu at Anna Stadium, attracted nearly 275 students from about 35 schools.
“Playing carrom helps in improving concentration and would have a positive impact on academic performance of the students,” said P.Kalaiselvan, district sports officer.
The tournament was conducted under two categories – juniors (students up to standard V) and seniors (students of standards VI to XII). Singles and doubles events were held for both boys and girls. R.Senthilkumar, secretary, Tiruchi District Carrom Association, gave away the prizes.
