Bus crew and 15 passengers who were sitting in the front seats of the TNSTC bus were injured when a lorry hit it in Srivilliputtur on Wednesday.

Bus crew and 15 passengers who were sitting in the front seats of the TNSTC bus were injured when a lorry hit it in Srivilliputtur on Wednesday.

Seventeen persons were injured when a TNSTC bus collided with a truck at Church junction on Rajapalayam-Sivakasi highway here around 2.10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police said the bus was proceeding to Madurai from Papanasam with 52 passengers when the lorry, coming in the opposite direction, lost control and hit it.

Both the bus conductor, A. Ramanathan, and driver, Kazhugachalam, were injured.

Besides, 15 passengers were injured in the accident as the front portion of the bus was completely damaged.

The Srivilliputtur Town police have booked lorry driver K. Suresh Kumar (27) of Lalgudi in Tiruchi district for rash and negligent driving.
