Youth held on sexual abuse charge

: The City police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old habitual offender on charges of sexual abuse of a minor girl after abducting her.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Shijo, who hails from Kadinamkulam. The Pettah police recorded the arrest of the accused, who was apprehended from Masinagudi near Gudalur in Tamil Nadu, where he is believed to have been hiding for nearly five months. He was nabbed by a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Control Room) A. Pramod Kumar.

The police said that the accused had allegedly duped and sexually abused several minors after getting in touch with them through social networking platforms. After interacting with the victim in the particular case, he allegedly sexually abused her after taking her to a secluded place. The accused was produced in a local court and was remanded in judicial custody.
