Won’t back LDF, UDF in case of hung Assembly: Amit Shah

‘The two fronts have destroyed State’s culture, besides resorting to appeasement politics’

May 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday said the party would not support the LDF or the UDF, if the outcome of the election is a hung Assembly.

Addressing a press conference here before winding up his campaign, Mr. Shah said the CPI(M) and the Congress should come out clear on their stand in the event of a hung Assembly. “The BJP will not support both the fronts, and we are here to provide good governance,” he asserted. The BJP chief also asked the CPI(M) to make it clear as to who would become the Chief Minister if the LDF was voted to power.

“CPI(M) polit bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan is trying to become Chief Minister through the backdoor, while the party is using V.S. Achuthanandan to woo voters,” he alleged.

Positive voting

Mr. Shah said the BJP offered the electorate the option to shift to positive voting. He added that in the absence of an alternative, the people had so far been compelled to make a choice between the LDF and the UDF.
