Vinayan withdraws Little Superman from cinemas

November 14, 2014 11:18 am | Updated 11:18 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

Filmmaker Vinayan on Thursday said that he had withdrawn his 3D film Little Superman from cinemas, following objections raised by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Vinayan said that there were certain scenes in the film against which the congregation had protested as they went against certain religious beliefs.

‘Not deliberate’

“There has been no purposeful attempt to insult the beliefs of any community. I have received valuable support from the CMI during the shooting of the film. Taking their concerns into view, I have withdrawn my film from the 40 centres where it was being screened,” he said.

He added that the climax of the film would be reshot by changing the script. He expressed optimism that he would be able to re-release the film by December end.
